10 Years Married!!!

The two of us, we eloped 10 years ago!

August 9, 2011 - This year, our visit home was to celebrate our 10 years of marriage, share it with our closest family (that could be present), and some of our best friends. After Chris enlisted into the Air Force (and we moved soon after to Texas, Germany, and now Nebraska), we never did get that wedding that I kept pushing off! So, we chose to come home and share the moment with our family and friends (now you can say you were there!!), instead of going to Hawaii and visiting Mary Jo, one of my best friends currently stationed there.

We renewed our vows on the beach at First Landing State Park. Mr. Al Sokolik was our officiant (the same marriage commissioner that married us 10 years ago!) and Les Treagus (a friend of mine from high school) did the photography. In the beginning of planning our vow renewals, I said I wanted it to be a non-traditional, informal, casual, relaxed, intimate ceremony. I did get side-tracked along the way (while looking at details I could have added), but eventually going right back to my original plan was the best route for us to go. It turned out perfect (despite the smoke early in the day from the burning Dismal Swamp and getting slightly lost on the way to the beach)! We had dinner at Captain George's, for all-you-can-eat-seafood! That's unheard of here in Omaha! HAHA

This time we shared the moment with our closest family and friends. We even have the same marriage commissioner from 10 years ago!

It meant a lot to us that our kids could be a part of it!

Kailani was wondering why they couldn't play in the water.

Kristian was ready to go and be done with the photo shoot!
