Christmas 2013

Kristian was dressed in a suit and tie and he wanted to add the sunglasses. Before we left, he brought his pirate cap and told us he should have brought his skeleton gloves! The backpack comes along whenever we go to church with snacks, a drink, and a toy to keep him occupied.

December 24-25, 2013: This was our first Christmas in San Angelo as a family of four. Last time we spent Christmas here was when Kai was 19 months old. Two months later, we moved to Germany.

For Nochebuena (Christmas Eve with a traditional dinner with family), I made a pot roast, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, and biscuits. We went to mass afterwards since the kids would have been too tired for the midnight mass. I intended to have the kids make cookies for Santa with us, but Kristian fell asleep in the car as we looked at the Christmas Lights in downtown San Angelo. Chris and I ended up making some white chocolate macadamia nut cookies for Santa since they both were tired and had fallen asleep.

Kai nearly forgot to leave a message to Santa, but luckily she did it before she fell asleep and made sure to speak on behalf of her brother, too. She made sure to give Santa a list of what she wanted this year and told him that she has been trying to be good all year despite having a "whiny" little brother! We all know how much you love him Kai. And, he'll always be your little brother!
Santa made sure to stop by last night and he ate some cookies. Santa gave Kristian a Lego Pirate Ship from Lord of the Rings & Kai got a DS WarioWare DIY game. They were really excited with their gifts!

Kristian was the first one to get up and ask to open gifts. He actually woke up around 4 a.m. and asked, but I told him to go back to sleep. Then they both woke up by around 7:30 a.m. Kristian was a little confused about Christmas. He looked outside and said, "What days is it? Is it Christmas?...But, there isn't any snow." I think that having been born in the Midwest (Omaha, NE) and spending his baby and toddler years there at our last duty station made him come to expect snow for Christmas!

Daddy had some treats that were supposed to be in his stocking, but he found and ate them before we put them in his stocking!
