Kailani making a snow angel.
January 11, 2011 - Over the past few days, we received nearly a foot of snow!! Since Saturday evening and into Monday evening, it just kept snowing, and snowing, and snowing.. School was canceled for Kailani for the past couple of days. Offutt was delayed a couple hours on Monday.
The snow plows didn't come through the neighborhood until Monday evening. Housing only plowed the sidewalks that people don't regularly use! Last winter, they plowed everyone's sidewalks.. Maybe they ran out of funding after building those ugly headstone looking neighborhood markers (they truly look like headstones!) and placing them all over military housing. There's absolutely no need for them and I'm sure housing just wanted newcomers to think that the housing administration actually cares about the well-being of the military families they serve. I'm not talking about the maintenance people (they're mostly retired service members and they are very nice if you show them respect!), but the housing administration takes all of a service member's BAH no matter how small or big the amount is and then the family simply has to deal with living in cheaply constructed military housing.
Anyway, despite our unhappiness with this place, we ALWAYS try to make the best of our situation! We wouldn't have been able to live here all this time if we didn't make the best of what we do have! But, thank you if you are one of our good friends or family (and reading this) that allow us to vent our emotions from time to time and give us your support, especially when we need it the most!!! =)
Kailani is shoveling snow.
Back to playing in the snow.. For Kai, being 7 years old makes it easier to listen to your parents even if you don't want to listen. But for Kristian, he was interested in going outside to play in the snow, but he despised the idea of having to put on the whole winter ensemble. His snow pants were the only things he did NOT want to wear!
After many, many attempts, I put them on him despite his anger and dislike and this was the result.
He was in absolute outrage the last time we got him dressed to play in the snow! It's most likely because he's not used to wearing the snow suit..
Kailani was already playing in the snow, while baby brother was still throwing his fit.
I stood him up, but he was trying to remove his pants and gloves while still extremely upset.
I brought him outside in the snow to try and calm him down, but that didn't work.
Kristian managed to pull off his gloves. Shortly after, we all went inside.

Chris was at work, so we couldn't stay outside long, especially with Kristian upset. The snow was still too soft, so we'll have to wait a couple more days to be able to build a snowman or igloo!
